The Bergeron Wellness Center at Saint Michael’s College is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Director of Student Health Services to join our fabulous team. The Bergeron Wellness Center provides confidential care for the bodies, minds and spirits of our diverse students. The Center has both nurse practitioners and mental health clinicians who are integral resources of care to all of our residential undergraduate students. In addition to providing direct patient care in an ambulatory health care setting, the Director of Student Health Services provides leadership in public health as well as sound management of nursing services/clinical care for students. The Director will work collaboratively with the Director of Mental Health Services on shared initiatives that support the physical and mental health development of students. The Director of Student Health provides clinical and administrative leadership to nursing personnel that includes nurse practitioners and registered nurses as well as the center’s administrative assistant. The Director will focus some clinical time on the assessment, management and support of students requiring medication management for mental health diagnoses, as well as some clinical support for the general physical needs of the student body. Administrative duties include working with the Director of Mental Health Services to collaboratively oversee the daily operations of the Bergeron Wellness Center, as well as hiring and personnel action within Student Health Services, purchasing supplies, communication with other departments to promote public health and maintaining and assuring quality performance and improvement programs in nursing, including infection control and prevention. - The successful candidate must hold an Advanced Practice degree in Psychiatric Nursing and is currently practicing under an accredited body as well as hold licensure in the state of Vermont.
- Three or more years of clinical experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Preferred qualifications include past experience in public health or care of populations, working within multi-disciplinary teams, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous college health experience.
- This candidate must see the value of cultural, ethnic, gender, and other individual differences in people, and help to create an environment of learning about, valuing, encouraging, and supporting differences.
